VIDEO: Del. Bob Thomas Admits His 2018 Vote Funded Abortion Industry

Republican Delegate Bob Thomas is facing a tough re-election bid.

Battling against a difficult primary challenge in a swing district, Thomas is trying his best to defend his vote for Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion in 2018.

But a recently published video of Thomas speaking to Stafford County Republicans now shows that Thomas knew he was voting to fund the abortion industry.

Republican Delegate Bob Thomas admitted that his vote for Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion also included taxpayer money for  abortion clinics, even Planned Parenthood, according to a recently released video of Thomas speaking to the Stafford County Republican Committee in 2018.

The video, posted by Virginians for Life, shows Thomas defending his vote for Obamacare Expansion.

But when trying to explain his vote to the Republican committee, Thomas revealed that he knew the budget would fund the abortion industry, and Planned Parenthood in particular, with taxpayer dollars.

“The Governor proposed 12 million dollars for a pilot program, 6 million in each year of the budget,” Thomas explains in the video.

He then defends his vote by stating, “So the House of Delegates cut that in half.”

However, Thomas ultimately revealed that the pilot program he was referring to could be awarded to Planned Parenthood.

“Could Planned Parenthood apply for this grant program? They could,” Thomas admits at the meeting, adding, “There’s nothing we can do to stop that individual abortion.”

When examining the vote Thomas cast for the 2018 budget, New Virginia Press verified that Thomas did in fact vote for taxpayer funding for abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood, which was included in HB 5002.

Virginians for Life’s newly released video also shows that Thomas knowingly voted to fund Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars, as well as hisadmitting to Stafford County Republicans that Planned Parenthood was eligible for the taxpayer funds and that there was nothing the General Assembly could do about it because of his vote.

Anger over his vote for taxpayer funding of the abortion industry is one of the key reasons conservative activists in Thomas’ district remain upset with the Republican Delegate.

It’s also a key reason that challenger Paul Milde has cited for his decision to run against Thomas in the upcoming June 11th primary election.

The two will face each other next week in what is widely expected to be one of the most closely contested House Republican nomination contests of the 2019 elections.
