A new type of crime just hit Central Virginia, and local residents are bewildered.
The suspect referred to as the “Secret TV Santa” is showing up uninvited on people’s doorsteps and leaving old TVs on their stoop, but with a confusing twist.
And locals are wondering whether he’s acting for his own entertainment, or with a more violent or sinister goal in mind.
Strange Person or Persons Leaving TVs on Resident Porches
Upwards of 50 citizens of Henrico county have received an unexpected package left on their lawns Sunday morning.
The surprise delivery was an old-style CRT TV.
The person, or persons responsible for the distribution of these cathode ray surprise tube-based gifts are unknown but have a unique uniform.
Multiple people who received one of these surprise presents had doorbell cameras, and what they found was truly unexpected.
A person in a home mover style uniform with a most unusual piece of headwear…
…a CRT TV on their head.
“It was a guy dressed in a jumpsuit with a TV for a head. It’s the weirdest thing. He squats down, puts the TV there and walks off. It’s really weird,” said Adrian Garner whose doorbell camera caught the odd occurrence in its entirety.
The police have recovered most of the TVs, but some people opted to keep their unexpected present.
The police stated that, “While suspicious, we don’t believe there’s any reason for the community to be alarmed.
Some locals are wondering whether there’s any more sinister motives behind the Secret TV Santa’s actions.
Apart from the unexpected visit, however, his actions appear to be nonviolent.
This Isn’t The First Time
As strange as the occurrence is, this is the second time it’s happened; and one year from the first event.
CBS 6 reports, “Nearly a year after a Glen Allen neighborhood woke up to find dozens of vintage box television sets sitting on their front porches, the strange circumstance has happened again.”
The difference is this time the offenders were caught on video.
Residents are also complaining that taking the obsolete TVs to the dump is a charge and hassle they shouldn’t be burdened with.
In any case, its obvious the “Secret TV Santa” is still on the loose, and he’s picking up a following.
HHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Tv Santa!? 📺 😂
I’d be real careful about checking those out. You could build one hell of a deadly bomb in a TV chassis. Best to call the police and let their bomb squad handle the disposal.
You want to call the county law enforcement and the bomb squad to remove an old TV? Has there ever been an instances of one of these stupid pranks exploding?
You never know. I’d be highly suspicious of anyone’s motive for doing something like this.
Normal people have better things to do with their time.
I’d also press charges for trespassing and littering.
Let em have their fun, Dave
